Presentation of the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award to Jack McCombs by Jack Strange from the Dulles FSDO
The Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award is the most prestigious award the FAA issues to pilots certified under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 61. This award is named after the Wright Brothers, the first US pilots, to recognize individuals who have exhibited professionalism, skill, and aviation expertise for at least 50 years while piloting aircraft as “Master Pilots”. A distinctive certificate and lapel pin is issued after application review and eligibility requirements have been met. Once the award has been issued, the recipient’s name, city and state is added to a published “Roll of Honor” located at https://www.faasafety.gov/content/MasterPilot/RecipientList.aspx.

Introduction of the upcoming Rusty Pilot Seminars to be held at the EAA 186 Chapter House
Elias Kontanis from Aviation Adventures will discuss the various aspects of the Rusty Pilot Seminars. The VFR course is designed for pilots that have been out of the cockpit for a few years, active pilots that would like to get up to speed on new developments in Part 91 flying, and student pilots working towards their Private or Commercial certificates. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow pilots and receive a comprehensive refresher course on various topics that are essential to operating aircraft under Visual Flight Rules in the Washington DC SFRA and beyond. The Emergency Procedures course is designed to explore various environmental scenarios and aircraft systems failures that may pose significant operational challenges to pilots.

12:00 – Chapter Merchandise Drawing
